Laona M. Kitchen Foundation: "I Remember Him" Book

"I Remember Him" Book

Sydney Oden is a big fan of writing her own stories.  She loves reading all kinds of books and has always dreamed of publishing her own.  An Allatoona High School Senior in Georgia, Sydney enjoys running cross country, track, and is actively involved in her local church.  She is an Ambassador Girl Scout in Troop #2441 and has been a Girl Scout since she was a 5 year old Daisy.  When first brainstorming ideas for her Girl Scout Gold Award, she realized that she could pursue her publishing dream.  This book is the realization of that dream.

Sydney's first four years were her Paw-Paw's last four years.  Read this wonderful non-fiction book about this young granddaughter's journey learning from her Paw-Paw as he battles Alzheimer's disease.  A heart warming and educational story that can aid parents and children in understanding how young children can interact with their aging grandparents.  Sydney shares from her heart about her own experience and encourages young children and parents through her words.  All proceeds from the sale of this book go to the LMK Foundation to aid those who are affected by Alzheimer's disease through family support, community education and research funding.

In 2013, Sydney received her Girl Scout Gold Award, was named a "2013 Young Woman of Distinction" by the Greater Atlanta Girl Scout Council and received a $3,000 scholarship.  Sydney is presently attending Shorter University majoring in Early Childhood Education.
